Like they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
I chanced upon this sign at a security post to a condominium entrance recently, and couldn’t help but snap a photo simply because it is heart breaking. The security detail were friendly and helpful, which led me to ask the question as to why such a sign is even needed.
Surely given the greater exposure to the world we live in today, via smartphones and the internet, we would be more civilized… Not to mention the greater opportunities for everyone when it comes to education, especially so in developed countries. (Yes, I know education doesn’t translate to better manners, upbringing, etc… And that family members and peers play an important role in shaping our thoughts and actions as well…)
That said, why then will such signs be needed? Clearly the management must have received feedback from the security personnel about unruly/rude visitors.
Granted, maybe the security personnel on duty on that particular day was rude, thus resulting in a less-than-gracious visitor. Or maybe the visitor was in a hurry and was unwilling to comply with certain regulations demanded.
Regardless of the why, I (naively) feel that it truly doesn’t matter who was at fault, be it visitor or security personnel, we should all strive towards being a better person. I ain’t no angel nor role-model but it is without doubt, something we can all aim to improve on.
Regardless of everything, we should always try to make a positive difference to those around us. But it starts with our individual self! #SmileMore #Peace
